Pushcart Nominees Selected
It gives us great pleasure to nominate the following poets for the Pushcart Prize. Their poems appear in Volume 58 of U.S. 1 Worksheets (40th anniversary issue). The nominations were made by the Poetry Editors—Betty Lies, Enriqueta Carrington, and Jill Stein.
Susan Gerardi Bello, “The Game”
David Crews, “I was Light Enough to Toss Myself around the Room”
Elizabeth Danson, “Rampancy”
David Keller, “After More Than a Month”
Frederick Lowe, “From Fever Outtakes”
Irene Willis, “Reminder”
The editors’ only charge was to select poems they felt were exceptional. What is striking about this list of nominees is that they represent how the Cooperative envisioned decades ago has endured, a fitting tribute to this anniversary issue. David Keller and Irene Willis were involved with the Cooperative from the early days, Susan Bello and Fred Lowe began submitting to the journal in recent years. David Crews is making his initial appearance. U.S.1 Worksheets is a project run entirely by volunteers; Mimi Danson has logged countless hours keeping the journal afloat.
Some of the selected poems can be found under Current Issue.
